Here's a scam that's slightly different to the one that a lot of people are seeing on 1TB/2TB Flash Sticks for sale at silly prices. The usual scam is that you get a stick labelled with the capacity you paid for, but when you try to use it you find it's just a stick with a tiny capacity.
This other version is a bit different, but it's been done before numerous times on other products. For example, you order 2 x 2TB Sticks via an ad on Insta for $35.00 each. For reference, 2TB sticks only just became available, and they are well over $1K each.
Your sticks arrive from China (signature required, of course) and instead they are 32GB Sandisks, which can be had for about $7.00. You let the seller know who apologises, and says that it's too expensive to send them back, and that they will refund you $4, without keeping the drives. They won't pay for return shipping if you DO ship them back despite it not being your mistake.
Well, of course, if you accept their offer you've then just bought $14 worth of memory stick for $66. You argue it out and then through PayPal usually get an offer of a $25 refund. Better, but again you're still coughing up over $40 for something you can buy (and likely don't need) for $14.
The vendor gets more aggressive, and often you'll get replies from different email addresses on it. You get loads of "final offers", and in the end you're so fed up with it you just say OK.
That's how they make so much from this - People can't be bothered to chase it endlessly, and are worried about PayPal finding in the seller's favour for some reason (which is stated as being final) so they let it go completely, or just take a pissy little refund.
So, if you see 1TB/2TB USB memory sticks being advertised for less than $1000 then it's a scam; stay away.
